Figured i'd make a build thread since i'm at the home stretch of a PI swap. Bought my mustang back in April of last year after I had problems after problems with my 91 Galant VR4. Got tired of dealing with the issues of a 20 year old turbo 4 banger so decided i'd step up to a V8. Original plan for the car was to be quicker than my old 98 GTP for half the money I had in my GTP. Started off rough, and I must say it has carried through to this day haha. First issue came up with the rear pinion bearing going out.. Picked up some FRPP 3.73's and got to rebuilding the rear end. Few pics from that

After this I noticed it had a lot more pep in it's step but still felt lackluster. So I did some more basic things like BBK intake, Steeda UDPs and what not. Tracked it out in Vegas and ran a dismal 15.0... Might have even been a 15.2, I threw away the slips so not sure haha.
Did a little weight reduction here and there. Removed the seats, the bumper supports, and what not. Also sold my bullits cause they weighed a thousand pounds and picked up some oem Mach1's
Next was a Pypes x-pipe, accufab plenum, and ditched the intake elbow for a more straight flow, and lastly a b&m shifter
Next trip to my "home" track at Autoclubspeedway I was able to get the car down to a 14.7 @ 93. Was scratching my head at this point. So just started going threw everything, noticed my mounts were shot so picked up some poly mounts
Tracked it again and still ran a 14.7 @ 93. my 60's weren't the greatest, but powershifting the snot out of the car I just pretty much felt I gave it all it had.
Some shots from the track.
So next step was to get cams. Searched around for a bit for the best cams that I wouldn't run into PTV clearance issues. Narroed it down to Hi-tech S2's and MHS S2's. Both were good on stock valves and springs. Went with the MHS' since I was reading the Hi-techs are better with aftermarket or P&P heads. Tracked the car one last time and managed a 14.6 @ 93, drove home from the track, ordered the cams, and started dissasembly. Upon teardown I first noticed my cam gears were bolt on instead of the press on found on Windsor motors. Asked around and people said to check the stamp on the head, sure enough NPI heads. After removing the intake manifold it further confirmed an NPI motor was put in.
Now was finding a set of PI heads and manifold. I found some on craigslist that I jumped on, only to get them home and find out they're trash. So I then found a guy selling an 01 romeo for $150 with a seized bottom end. Brought it home, pulled the heads, and junked the block. Noticed it had been starved of oil, but they appeared to be fine on the initial visual
When I pulled the cams off I realized they had a lot of scouring on the cam journals. So had them sent to the machine shop to have them cleaned up
The intake manifold I was able to find at the junkyard off a towncar
