Aftermarket. The prothane say specifically that they don't fit 96-98 GTs.

You have to buy a poly trans mount for a fox body and the make the holes in the crossmember longer. Or you can get a cobra t45 mount and get a stifflers transmission crossmember.

I believe the 96-98 gt poly trans mount is molded with unicorn blood and apparently the species is going extinct. Animal rights activists won’t let us murder the beautiful unicorns anymore, so we are SOL and have to improvise.

Unicorns are wretched creatures anyways. Spreading happiness and sparkly nastiness.

Alright, I give up - long tube headers are going to wait until I do the k-member. They are just not going in well. So off-road x-pipe it is. Maybe one with high flow cats.

And I get to take them right back off again - because after I installed them, I was looking at the old heads, and realized I missed moving two plugs on the bottom of each head. So now I get to buy new bolts and head gaskets again, and do all the work... again. :embarrassed: I suppose on the bright side, I'm glad I caught it now, instead of when I was done and started up the motor...

What gaskets? If they are felpro permatorques, they can be reused. Usually bolts can handle torquing 2x

Ford OEM from the Ford Performance head changing kit. Same with the bolts.

Is there any way you can access those plugs with the heads on the engine?
Sadly, no. At least the head changing kit isn't too expensive, and I hadn't gotten any further. Ugh, I thought I was being detailed and careful. :(

Easy enough and not too much more expensive to just buy another head change kit. I'd rather be safe, especially for a track car. Got the plugs moved over, swapped the water pump and heater tube in the meantime. New bolts and gaskets will be here tomorrow, so I'll reinstall them then... after one more check over everything, lol.

Hey...if its a dedicated track car, set up the deck surfaces for multiple tare downs. This is where the surface conditions are very fine and the gasket used wont embed into the materials. This way the same gasket can be used multiple times.

Heads are back on with GT40 rockers, trickflow lash adjusters, and stock pi cams, lol. With what I'm running, is there any real benefit to an aftermarket throttle body and plenum? Also decided today that I'm going to do the A/C delete. Save some power and weight.
