Swap went according to plan, got everything buttoned up and then tried to start. It would crank once then felt like the crankshaft would get caught and abruptly stop. i tried to spin the crank with a socket myself( felt tight, but i busted it loose ) now it cranks several times then abruptly stops still. What steps should I take next, I know its nothing to do with the intake itself, but somthing is definately getting caught on the crankshaft. Any ideas or steps to take to find objects in motor.

Thanks in advance guys.

Shouldnt have problems like that with an intake swap..Unless you dropped something in the intake ports on the head and its lodged in there good enough? Or somethings not hooked up correctly..Im not too sure why it'd be doing that from just doing an intake swap

i know thats what i said WTF!!!! total :bs: , but anyway i gotta fix it now. do you think i should remove the valve covers check for anything.... thing is i have no idea where its at, what is lodged down inside .......all my tools are accounted for.

Whenever I tried to turn the motor over, its a good thud that stops the crank so its gotta be something lodged.

if there was something solid in the cylinder you wouldnt be able to turn it over by hand. it would wedge the piston to the head. chances are that you got a lot of coolant in the cylinders when you pulled the intake off. if you havent bent a rod yet id try taking out the spark plugs and try cranking it over. itll blow the coolant outa the cylinders. ive hydrolocked motors before like this. they spin ok until they hit the bent rod then it binds up. i dont know man. I hope the best for you.

how much coolant should be in the intake manifold itself?

not very much, it just runs across the crossover..

also, pull your thermostat and add your coolant from there when you put everything back together, that way theirs less air in the cooling system.

id use very little rtv for kicks unless its a npi to pi intake manifold. there is an abundance of writeups which i assume you read.
