Cool man! Something to look forward to! I'm tellin ya, I had a coupe sitting out back of my shop for a while. Friend of mine bought it, had to put a roof on it, I welded it up for him, he had it almost ready for an engine, and then sells it off for 300 bucks. It looked just like your car, primered, straight, no rust, etc, red interior. That's one reason I like this build.

i picked up a shortblock and its sitting at buddies place next to the car. my friend jon is also checking into getting the headers bead blasted if it will fit. also got my axles back since the bracket for the brakes werent put on before the bearings. also found out my 00gt rims wont fit because of the 5\8 studs. its alright since they are going on my gf's car for her winter rims. this just means im going to put her waffle rims on my car and just drill the backs out slightly and "massage" them over the larger wheel studs. they will be fine to roll the car around on. so i still got some work ahead of me with just getting the car back on the ground. oh yea i gotta cut a coil out of the rear spring still.

So how's it coming?

:this was from this past weekend:

wow today was something 1st problem
yea the relocated uppers. the bar that goes across the top of the rear end didnt want to join. did everything we could to get them as close to fitting. took a grinder to the rear end and grinded off any metail around so the bushings could fit as flush as possible. grinded on the "ears" and finally just had to end up drilling the hole out some and hammering the bolt in

2nd problem
the lowers are now on and the shocks are technically on but i think i need shorted bolts now
no biggie.

ok since there are pics now. look at the part of the uppers that are dangling. the silver pieces have to sandwiched in along with the actual joint piece of the control arm to the part where they mount to the chassis. its very irritating to say the least. ive put several control arms in and never had this kind of problems but they control arms look like they are in a completely different league to what some of my friends have as well.

put it this way ive had friends come over to just look at some of the parts i have bought and then they tell me im building a race car

any ways i guess im going to have to spread that mounting point apart or cut down the silver pieces some so they fit properly

On those control arms, you should be able to get them in there by tapping them up and in. Or you could take a board and a hammer and spread the upper mounting tabs apart on the body. I would not grind on the control arm spacers at all. That's not a good idea. Your friends are right, you are building a race car with these parts. But it will help the car go faster for any given combination. I would get a cage in it while you have it down so far. JMHO. It will make the car even more rigid and transfer more power to the wheels.

i got some work done on the car today. i managed to get almost all of the sound deadening out of the car and just mocked up the hood and trunk lid today. the trunk lid looks like its going to fit damn well but the hood on the other hand the hood is still cheap.

that's an HO fibertrends decklid or at least a copy of one. I have had their decklid on my orange coupe for almost 12 years now, and it is still perfect. Even the lock works in it, just used a file to open the lock hold up and put the cylinder in it.
Keep up the good work, coming along great.
