proshifted 3550??

hey anyone got any tips on how to beable to tell if my 3550 is proshifted? when looking down inside the 3rd gear syncro. looks like it has fewer large teeth. just looking for someone to exsplain the proshift upgrade. my car is a daily driver and ive been told its not going to be a good street trans..

I'm sure it's not "pro-shifted." That term usually refers to transmissions that have straight-cut teeth. They are not very street-friendly, and make a ton of noise. However, they work great in sustained high-rpm applications such as road racing.

thanks man yeah its proshifted, and it being proshifted has nothing to do with stright cuts? mine has been proshifted. now how would it be best driven? i dont want to hurt it.

shift quickly... driving like a grandma will cause the gears to burr up, and will require maintenance sooner
