actually maybe a sleek kinda brushed stainless simple setup of lakeside style pipes would look ok...idk lol.

Tony sure is game changing the scene around here.

Back to the side pipes...lol. Spintech offers oval tubing in stainless. Instead of a round tube along the bottom like nostalgia, use the entire length of where the skirts would be but with the oval tubing. This way the tube is more tucked under and resembles the skirts in a way. Also the stainless can be brushed, painted, or polished.

i see what you mean and honestly i bet you could pull it off. its a cool look on classics but i've always thought it was because of all the chrome that came on cars back then. kinda want to photoshop this now lol
