My 3650 needed a fluid flush which gave me an opportunity to switch out the Pro 5.0 handle with a steeda tri ax one, since I’d be taking off the shifter anyway. I missed the shape of the stock handle and how much closer it was to me so I got this one. All I can say is wow, the shifts are short but smooth with the pro 5.0 base but the shifter is now in a more comfortable place with the tri ax. Also I switched to a stock handle for a sleeper look lol. I had a genuine mach 1 shift knob on it but it got hot when the sun was out. Here are some pics in various gears. And a before in neutral. Also the e brake made a great paper towel holder lol.

I tried to start mine today for the first time in 2 months but walked away disappointed. Checked the plugs and they were wet with fuel, timing light flashed to make me think there was spark but it would not fire up at all, just crank...

Awesome! What's left to do before you can drive it?

Let’s see;

  1. Fix the water and PS fluid leaks
  2. Program the fan controller
  3. More tuning
  4. Brakes
  5. Secure some HVAC stuff
  6. Secure some electrical stuff
  7. Some rear suspension stuff
  8. Insurance would help out
I’m sure there’s a few things I’m missing but it’s close.

I love this combo too. Its so much better than the Pro 5.0 handle, it was way too short and made me reach granted I’m not that tall. The Tri Ax is a lot more comfortable.

Water leak fixed and PS leak discovered. Found blown fuse for fan controller. Pictures in my build thread.

I did the same thing in my '93. Pro 5.0 base with aluminum Tri-Ax handle.
It felt really good. But the handle snapped during a 1-2 shift at the track right at the end of the threads. I have been using the steel Pro 5.0 handle since; but still miss the feel of the Steeda's.

Oh wow it broke that easily? Yeah man I’m really liking mine. I might put the Mach 1 knob back on but I really like the look of the stock knob on it... and its nice in the summer because it doesn’t get searing hot like the Mach 1 knob lol.

I was putting through quite a bit of abuse drag racing. On the street there were no problems.
I also have a pistol grip knob on it that probably exerted more force and leverage on the top than normal knobs.

I've had a Tri-ax in my '96 however for over 15 years and no problems. Though it does not see the abuse that the '93 does on the track.

Yep! My GT came with a Pro 5.0. Shifted great, but the handle was too stubby and straight. Got a Tri-ax from a member here (thanks again, man!), and it is so much nicer to drive.
