How did you make out?
How did you make out?
I'm not a drag racer, but isn't that full cage requirements for that time?Went out first round to my buddies turbo ls swapped fox that got runner up but did well after and beat a ton of cars . stick shift hellcat , supercharged c6 , ls swapped nova, procharged chevy ss . I can’t wait to get some drag oriented suspension in the car . Fastest guy only went 6.80’s on the terrible surface we were on .
Oh yea the faster guys had 8.50 cert cages . My cars getting a 8.50 cert cage over winter too . I’ve gotta new motor in the works should be done before seasons end . This is 8th mile so 7.35 you need a 6pt bar and 6.50’s I think you need a 8pt . I’m just doing a 8pt cage over winter . With my new combo and suspension work I’ll for sure need a 6pt so might as well have room to grow .I'm not a drag racer, but isn't that full cage requirements for that time?
So what are cage requirements for 1/8 mile? I know convertibles are different and ours will never be that fast to need a cage. My Chevelles best 1/8 mile was IIRC 6.95. Best 1/4 was 11.69 but that was with a broken lifter, 2 actually. My link bar on a pair of lifters broke and the roller lifters rotated and wiped both lobes off the cam. I was figuring the car would break into the 10's once the bugs were worked out but this was a fresh motor and combo that I never did sort out. After the lifters broke I tried pulling them but they were mushroomed so I yanked that motor and threw my 327 in that I was gonna build for my '66 Chevy II. That 327 ran 12.0's in the Chevelle. I had a 6 pt cage in the Chevelle. From memory that was good till 9's but this was back in the mid 90's.
That 454 was an original LS7 but had 12.5:1's with the factory square port heads, aluminum intake (forget which one) and a Lunati .685/.692 lift roller with about 280* duration @ .050. THM400 with 8" ATI 4500 stall converter and 4.56's in a KTRE 9" Ford rear.
