I changed the expansion valve out of the truck this morning flush all the a/c lines Added 3 Oz pag oil and 1.8 pounds to the system after a leack test vacuum
A cold 35 degrees in that truck
The old expansion valve was rusted would not open

I helped a neighbor with her daughters car this weekend and I have never been in this situation. They have a VW tiguan and the battery died so they took it to a local tire/repair place and had the battery replaced. They said 2 days later the battery was dead again and when they took it back to the place they got it from they charged and tested it and it showed good. So back in it went and again 2 days later it is dead. They said they heard they need to have the battery programmed/registered to the car on its software or it kills it. I had never heard of this before but a quick search online confirms that the battery management system ironically enough will drain the battery if it is not reset in the software, which of course needs to be done at the dealership. $150 just to do this, on top of the price of the battery. I bet they knock it down to $125 if ya get the battery from them though..... I use to think VW was a cool manf but after hearing this I could never even consider one.

That’s really stupid. I know newer Fords also use bms but I don’t think it will drain your battery if you don’t reset it. I replaced a dead battery in my 2015 gt a year or so ago and honestly I don’t even remember resetting the bms.

Yeah it's not going to kill the battery. You may not get "optimized" charging or some nonsense, but it won't kill it. The F-150s (my '16 at least) has a wire you can just disconnect to disable it and the charging system will work just like it has for the past 100 years lol.

Got my new elbow in and testing the fit
Don't really need a spacer
But I am going with the thinnest one I can find just to separate heat from elbow and intake 1/4 or 7/16
Also test plumbing some fuel fittings got it somewhat the way I want it

I had to laugh that the battery management system is what kills it. Seems like either a big flaw or planned obsolescence to get you back to the dealer to do one of the most basic repairs. It said this was a common thing since 2018 so I am guessing they don't care about people complaining about paying $150 to "program the battery". I mean just saying that it sounds stupid dumb.

Just another reason to not get a newer car. The creature comforts are nice but you’re either locked into car payments indefinitely to always have a warranty or stuck with huge repair bills when all these electronics break. No thanks.

Well im almost 100persent positive that you would know to set the car down on the suspension(jackstands) before tightening all of the suspension bolts......so my curiosity is high....do tell!

It drove to that position & I've done nothing to the suspension which would change ride height, still it is riding taller than stock.

I don't have stock chassis alignment diagrams to compare against. I've parked it next to my wife's 2002 & it's visibly higher. What's different is a whole lot of weight loss. Purely a wild-ass guess here but I think 200lbs or better is not out of the question - I didn't bother weighing individual parts because they all happened at different times & the final weight will tell the whole story anyway.

Last night I drove out to a CAT scale at a truck stop but that didn't result in actually getting weighed. I guess I need to find a race shop & pay them if I really want to know or bring a load of garbage to the dump.




Pretty big difference in how much stuff exists under the hood & that's not the only place it's lost weight.
