teksid or WAP block?

IIRC, all aluminum blocks are 4 bolt.

Dude 12 hrs?

where did you go?

Looks good.

I'm guessing either Vegas or Missouri...

Chris, are you going to port and polish it yourself or are you going to send it somewhere?

That didn't even dawn on me! But it's probably cause I don't know how to do any of that stuff. I was going to see if he'd teach me... but... maybe not.... :laughing5:

nice teksid. doesn't look bad. with a hot tank and a check of all the surfaces, she'll be ready for BIG POWA!!

WAP blocks have 2 bolt mains. teksids have 4.

oh no. i cant do that stuff. it takes special equipment... some stuff like turbo exhaust manifold (for 4 cylinders) arent too bad, but theres nothing i could do on an engine block. that takes a blueprint machine, a block scrubber, and experience. lol.

anyways, I drove to Oklahoma City from Denver, CO for it... it was $300.00 and it needs a bell housing ear welded back on (no biggy.)

it should be hitting the the machine shop next month. Gotta save up some money... then its getting this bad boy thrown into it:

<img src="http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/prod_imgs/img-1002-large.jpg">
http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product.phtml?p=1553

It will have complete and total custom head set up (roughly $4,000.00)

and finally this monstrosity sitting on top:

oh yea... im getting a chubby...

Look into Whipples. Big power means nothing if you only have it for one pull.

"Location: 35°30′8″N, 97°44′57″W"

was. lol!!!!

KB is by no means a bad product, but from my experience with Modulars, KBs seem to make pretty fancy big numbers on the dyno, once, but fall short on seat of the pants and real world driving to the smaller numbered, cooler Whipples. The new "small" Gen2 2.3L whipple is extremely affordable and will make 650whp all day long on a bone stock 03-04 motor on 93 octane street tune. For the price you pay, do you need more than that?

i honestly dont have that much experience with top mount power adders... just watched someone install N2O, helped put in a procharger, and have done a number of turbos on import cars (89 supra, hondas, etc.)

i dont understand how a blower can add 400 HP (for example) for the first week, then drop later on. I have a feeling its due to kenne bell's supporting modifications such as the boost-a-pump and boost-a-spark. Those are supposedly amazing products, but i have never seen anything about them past the first dyno pull. Ive heard a local tuner (Finishline) suggest staying away from them.

He said that they are amazing for their purpose... to make a supercharger kit cheep. he said those products are used to bandage a wound... instead of geting a properly calibrated fuel pump for the set up, you are using a stock one on steriods 100% of the time. I read the kenne bell publications (yes, all of them) and thats exactly what the boost-a-pump is. It takes the stock pump and makes it run at a higher capacity at all times instead of getting a larger pump to run at normal capacity. it would be like having a fuel injector on at 99%. Yea, it works. yea, its cheeper than buying a new one... but is it a great idea?

I was going to get the blower and the minor addition modifications (8 rib belt, alternator bracket, etc.) but not the IMPORTANT stuff. lol. this build will be a ground-up kind of thing. I wont need a boost a pump because ill have my own pump. I wont need a boost a spark because it will be running MSD. I wont need a KB MAF because it will have SCT.

what i think he was trying to say was that kenne bell's are more prone to heat soak and the like issues.

that first dyno pull with the engine barely warm will make a huge number, then pulls after that will be lower, as the supercharger heats up.

where as the smaller (arguably) better designed whipples will make the same number all day long. no heat issues, no nothing. and like you said the BAP and BAS is a band aid on a broke leg.

and if your trying to make more than 600hp, a blower is gonna be the first step in a very long road. a blower will get you there, but more than that and you better have money saved for heads, cams, and every other little thing.

correct...baps and boost a spark are things to stay far away from, like mafias.

sct2400maf
cold air induction
accufab tb
4 lb lower
3.50 upper
2.3L gen 2 140AX whipple
lts, catted x, catback
60 lb/hr injectors
stock rails, lines, dual pumps

you really don't even need the tb. that combo is good for mid 650s all day long on a bone stock 03-04 longblock. head/cam just adds to the fun, and the cost. I'm not thrilled with KB fitment issues or overall "home depot" appearance of everything other than the blower itself.

heat soak is the main problem, hm? ill look into that... ive called KB before and they are always willing to give information. How would I find information defending them against heat soak? I just have a spot in my heart for a KB. lol. people just seem to be afraid of them :p plus i can say dumb things like "my blower has more displacement than your entire motor" i was going to get "2.8L" badges for my fenders... oh yea. lol.

i was pretty much just going to use their blower and go with other stuff for everything except minor things (like the 8 rib conversion)

as for saving for heads and what not, this motor will be sitting on a stand for at LEAST a year... im having the best in denver build my cobra heads. it will basically be a fully built, fully forged 03/04 with a massive blower on it. im not sparing a penney...

most people throw bolt ons onto the car in hopes of making power just to have things fail. My rear end is already built, i will be dropping in a T56, and then this blower will be the final piece (along with supporting mods like fuel and induction system) so dont worry about durrability. the weak link will be the T56 and I will have that built shortly after the motor is dropped in.

as for tuning, 100% custom, along with a 100% custom head set up and 100% custom drive shaft :-D
