Re: 94Droptops Build Thread

Yes I love the wheels 1000 times better now. I just need to get new lug nuts since they have rust on them.

But now to the good stuff. Made a little bit more progress on her today. I installed my walbro 255 pump, mounted my battery box, and nitrous bottle to the trunk. While I was at it I gave the gas tank cover a recoat and painted my straps with some paint I mixed at work. The stock pump was the original with almost 170k on it. It was still working to.

thursday I plan on sound deading the trunk and the back seat.

Re: 94Droptops Build Thread

Yup just got the cam installed and now it will sit until my next day off to make a little more progress. Everything has gone smooth so far except 1 broken bolt in the timing cover. But i might just buy a new cover and water pump from work. Have to see if a easy out will take car of it first. Come to find out the motor is a 306, I will run the part number on the piston thursday to see what they are. Some pics will be up in a bit.

Re: 94Droptops Build Thread

seeing everything off the engine brings back memories of 4 weeks ago for me lol. Looks nice, I actually had 1 of the bolts for my timing cover snap off in the block, the 2 long ones that go from the timing cover into the block by the coolant passages. I got the 1 out with LOTS of patience and carefully un-bolting it, but the other snapped. Good luck with yours though, I know how much of a pain those bolts are!

heads look funny with no cams in them lol
Not going to lie, I thought the same when I did my car this winter. First pushrod engine I have worked on in depth, But the heads look cleaner when they have nice shiny roller rockers that you see once or twice in the life span of the engine :p.

Re: 94Droptops Build Thread

Well today was one of those FML days. So I go the headers bolted back on with my Stage 8 bolts. I also got my water pump and harmonic balancer put back on, along with painting my coil and valve covers. The roller rockers are on waiting to be torqued, started putting them on and realized i dont have the right adapter for 3/8drive to half so I could torque them.

So on the way to class today driving my beater car 92 honda accord the ball joint desided to drop out while driving down the road, and when the tow truck loaded and unloaded the car he ended up snapping the cv shaft in half. After later inspection the nut on the ball joint had just unscrewed itself so all I had to do was buy a new cv shaft and we are up and running again. Sadly it ruined my day to work on my mustang. Hope to start it in the next week.
