So since the Search function is down. I guess i will have to start a thread. Ever get that feeling that maybe it's just time to go ahead and build a new motor?? Well i am getting that feeling with 180 on the clock and the water pump starting to leak for the 3rd time... so on and so forth i feel its just time to start building one and take my time with it so when the current 302 goes i should have a back up plan. I figured with 180k on this motor i would feel better if i started off from scratch and did a build then just throwing parts on here, so i can always have a running car.

Post your budget builds you guys would do.

I was thinking of a 302 bottom end bored to a 306 maybe a 308 with some decent pistons, set of gt40's or possibly used set of eddy's or maybe AFR's if they can be gotten cheap, Then maybe follow it all up with a cobra upper and lower. Throw some shorty's on there ( stupid emissions) followed up by a o/r X or H then out back to a Bassani exhaust :) What do you guys think??

Post your idea's in here

Well i doubt that the bottom end will ever happen. SO this is my current build that I have going right now. I picked up a set of gt40 heads that have been extrude honed for $400, SVO intake w/65mm TB for like 200, picking up a used cam for around 70, all the gaskets and new water pump for about 100. This is going on my bolt on engine along with LT headers, o/r x, and 1 chambers dumped. When i do my H/C/I I will be taking out my a/c and power steering and moving my battery to the trunk. I have already removed the smog.

Suspension wise Im going to run 90/10 lakewoods, steeda drag springs, factory rear struts, and some tubular control arms, removing both sway bars, and will find me some DR's to put on my pro stars.

Im also taking out my front and rear seats and replacing them with poly seats and taking out the rear seats.

Not sure what your budget is or your HP aspirations but I would buy a stk. Ford shortblock (if you're going to be N/A) and go from there.

See ya

Damn that budget shortblock from LMR is a good deal just get the rest and bolt it up. Then the little stuff. Thanks Paul i may have to buy that with my tax refund this year to go ahead and start this. Keep it coming guys i would love to hear what everyone has. I think with something even with a set of GT-40's and a Cobra upper and lower i would expect to see about 280 to the wheels. i think that would be about right. Maybe with the trickflow kit a little bit more but not to much am i right on this??

Yeah i was talking ported Gt40's and maybe a E303 just off the shelf cam and cobra upper and lower would be about that. And i would be able to use my stock T5 too

very true^^^^^ but i didnt want to replace the springs so my options were limited. .500 max lift. Picked it up on the cheap to. Are computers tend to not like the alphabet cams alot idle wise. TFS1 or a steeda would be nice for you.

True. Alphabet cams are super cheap, which is nice. I've run a few of them. I just prefer other cams because of the poor drivability characteristics of the alphabet cams.

Yes.

Also check the classifieds - there is someone selling a top end kit with AFRs and an Ed Curtis cam for $1600. That's a great deal.

not n/a unless thats one hell of a port job. I think I already have a fox short block in mine. I dont see ford tracking down a 94-95 one when they replaced it with the previous owner.

I had a F-cam on a HCI 302 back in the day - I was unimpressed by the drivability, but it is certainly a proven blower/turbo cam.
