I found a guy on another forum selling a set of mint condition export tails. I offered him $35 less than the dealership was charging me and he accepted. Bought and paid. They should be in Friday.

I went to remove the AC compressor today and only 2 of the 3 bolts holding it in would come out. The third one I ended up grinding off... slid the compressor down and then used heat + vice grips to the rest of it out of the block.
Took the water pump, coolant crossover and timing chain cover off as well.

After breaking my third (and final 10mm socket) I called it a night.

I got a call from the dealership a little bit ago. Some of my parts came in. On a side note, they couldn't get the 99/01 cobra tails and refunded my money back for those. :deeplist:

I am so pissed at myself. A few months back there was a set of cobra tail lights on cl for $60. I didnt know there was any different or how much they where worth. Texted me buddy the post and he bought them and flipped them for $300.

Those 99/01 cobra tails I commonly see go for $500 per set these days.

There's a set on eBay right now and they're currently at $355 w/ $25 shipping and still have 5 days remaining in the auction. I wouldn't be surprised if they go for somewhere around the $500 mark as well.

That's one thing that pissed me off about this white car... somebody swiped the damn tails off of it prior to me getting it... which isn't uncommon because people know what they're worth.

The timing components and cams have been pulled... Tomorrow, if I have time, I'll see about loosening up the exhaust and pulling the heads.

Gotcha. I will certainly do that. Thanks MC!

I'm sure once I start building the "new" engine, I'll be asking you a lot of "what do you thinks" and "what ifs" so be prepared.

Why don't you pull the engine before pulling the heads? Bet it would be a lot easier, no bending over the engine bay. LoL

Yeah, It would, but I don't have the means to do that right now and I don't want to hold up progress.
