Hmmmm..Now what? I'm just about 100% sure that it put damper in your budget plans?

Well obviously I can't use that block. So I'm going to have to go on the hunt for another one... which will probably cost about $300-ish.
I guess I will accumulate some of the cost when I sell that one to omni source during my next scrap metal run.

*sigh*

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed.

I'm sorry you had to run into that problem....But text me....or post? Did he even mention what was going on with that Motor in general? Like repairs? What to look for...Or was it just a simple.."She aint running right" ..So take as is?...She had to cost a good penny to have her shipped to IN.....Mannnn..All that extra work taking her apart...Just to have to pull the motor anyway....man oh man...

It looks like he probably messed it up screwing around with a transmission swap that "didn't line up" if you read from this post forward....

I just tore apart the interior. Two out of the 4 bolts that hold the shifter in place are missing. This "transmission swap" that he did was definitely the culprit. :deeplist:

I sent him an email this morning with some pictures of the damaged area. We'll see what happens. He's in California, and they're three hours behind us, so I'll give it some time and see what he says.

Unreal man just Unreal. Can't ****in trust anyone. And what's the overall condition of the transmission? If he did the swap I'm gonna guess something along the lines is ****ed up and your gonna have transmission problems down the road

I haven't got around to really checking it out thoroughly, but I am going to assume it's junk and plan on getting new transmission. I was kinda-sorta planning on doing a T56 swap in this anyway. This just confirms it.

Found another teksid on craigslist today. Went and got it for $300.

I'm still pretty damn pissed the damage wasn't disclosed to me. If he changed the transmissions, there's no way that he DIDN'T know that damage was there. :angry4:

really sorry to hear the bad news. ill keep a eye out for a block local to me if you want. riz knew the block was messed up, and if he would have said something im sure you would have bought the car anyway. it disgusts me how people are shady, and he knew you would eventually find it during the tear down. unfortunately im sure you signed a as is contract too.

Good price on that block it looks like it was held in pretty good condition based off the pix. I agree totally with Stanimal. You were looking for a beater. You probably would have bought it anyway soo.. Why not be honest and up front about it?

I called the scrap yard and asked them how much I would get for 85-ish pounds of cast aluminum. They said somewhere in the vicinity of $100, but it would be hard to tell without seeing it or weighing it.

If that's the case.... *shrug* what's another $200 invested in this... ppffttt.....
($300 for the new teksid less $100-ish for scrapping the old block)

I got a reply back from Rizkit32 last night and he said:

Really? Thats odd. To be honest I was never able to check under the carafter the transmission work was done, i knew it still didn't run right and igave up on trying to fix the car. I didn't know the extent of any damage as afriends dad had done the work in his garage.

His posts suggested that HE did the transmission work, not his friend's dad..... bologna.

Whatever....
