Scrap yard workers are trained to nit-pick and find reasons to NOT pay premium prices. I don't know how many times I have taken a box of pure aluminum heat sinks in and they (without asking or even checking) they just weigh it up as "irony aluminum" and I'm like "Whoa whoa whoa.... there's not a single shred of iron in there. Not even one little steel standoff. Look through it if you want. If you guys think you're going to weigh that up as Irony Aluminum, I'll just take my business elsewhere." Then they change it.

They're counting on the average "idiot" to go in there and trust that the scrap yard workers are going to weigh everything up correctly and honestly... and they don't. The same with copper. I will sit down and cut off every single brass fitting, every single elbow that has solder on it, etc and sort my scrap meticulously and when they try and weigh it all together as #2 copper, I call them out on it as well. I take enough scrap in from my eWaste recycling business, that they know better than to mess with me now.

NICE! It pays to know what you're doing so you don't get walked on. I'm really looking forward to seeing this car get fixed up! I hope it's smooth sailing from here brother!

Yeah he was talking like he did the trans swap. We were talking about it because I am doing the same t45 to tr3650 swap in mine soon. I already have the trans and did my research and no one had problems with the trans lining up like he was stating. He knew that block was f**ked and thats BS man...

I went to my brother's house today and got his engine hoist and stand.
I pulled the engine out and discovered the flywheel was taken off at some point and then put back on one hole off. :deeplist:

Well this just proves that some people should work on their own cars (deep) and some people have no business working on a car, not to mention anything mechanical (riz). Sorry that this happened buddy. I will send you the money as well as the info for that ac control system next week some time.

since he had/or his buddy had all of those issues getting the tranny in right from left to right side, I am willing to be that that block had more issues than you found with it deep....perhaps warping or when it was hit there was engine damage as well. I am also willing to bet that had you known the issues with it, you wouldn't of paid what you did for the car, and that was what he was banking on when he told you about it. We wont see him for a while....

That's unbelievable it still ran with all that hidden crap going on with it. Proves how well built these engines are. I'm still trying to wrap my head around using tape to hold the fog lights in. Really? Did they think they were wrenching on some 1980's Honda or something?

Other than the drivetrain, is the Cobra pretty sound?

Sucks to see you having issues with a car you bought from a member here. I completely understand your frustration.

The member on here I bought my old Cobra from never logged back on sn95f after I bought it and it had many serious issues that he lied to me about.

I haven't been able to figure that out. The rotating assembly was all in tact and nothing was damaged on it. The pieces in the oil pickup screen were aluminum. I've thoroughly inspected everything that's aluminum and haven't been able to find anything damaged. The only thing I can think of would be maybe something got dropped in there when they were trying to get the valve covers off ??? No clue.

Yeah. If I bought this car to be a DD or something, I'd be way more pissed than I am now. Being that it was meant to be a project and was going to be tore down anyway, it's not too big of a deal and life goes on.
