Lowering Springs Question

Ive been wanting to lower my car for a while now.
I dont want to spend much money though.

Is it bad to cut the stock springs a bit (say 1& a half inches)?
If anyones cut the stock springs, do you know how much i should cut off?

Im on a really tight budget and id like an alternative method of lowering my car,
as opposed to spending $200+ on sportlines or an eibach kit.

I don't know about that cutting stocks option. Lots of people have done it. I do not think you will be happy with the bouncy ride or performance. If you look at the "Suspension" pics you can see what I did with reasonably priced Ford Racing Springs and I have a A+ quality ride when experiencing bumps in the road and speed bumps ect.. I also got at least the 2" drop with them also. I recomend you do like me and wait it out saving the cash and getting all the parts to do it right.
BUT... I know you are not in that mind set so Some experienced guys here will undoubtedly give you an option or two to get it done cheaply and acceptable.

If you're ballin' on a budget then cutting your stock springs would not be so bad as long as you don't cut too much. I wouldn't remove more then 1 full coil, any more and your ride will suffer greatly.

-If you do end up cutting them do it with a cutoff wheel, not a torch.
-For the front springs cut the coil from the bottom of the spring not the top (top of spring is flat where it sits flush against the k-member)
-Rear springs cut from the top even though its flat. The bottom of the spring is coiled tighter to fit around the cup on the lower trailing arm so as to not fall off.

if you just want it to look better then cutting the springs would work, if you want a quality ride or performance then I'd wait to do it right.

And, I got my Ford Racing "B" springs from American Muscle's e-bay site for $50.00. I see a set there quite often. I'll take a look tonight and see if by chance there's a great price somewhere under $50.00 for you.

Well, just looked on e-bay from various sellers and found a couple "cheaper":
Eibach Pro Kit $124+ $16 shipping
Eibach Sportline $150+ $20 shipping
Not the greatest deals but they are out there somewhere.

i was just blown away by american muscle when the H&R springs were 250.
if its around 150 or so, i can buy them.

but will they give me a good enough drop?
does anyone have pictures of these?

^^^^It all depends on how low you wanna go! Pro kit will leave just about 2 inches of wheel gap, and a sportline kit will basically eliminate all wheel gap. I like the pro-kit on the SN95 cars, but prefer the sportlines on the New Edges. Also the ride with a Pro-Kit is still nice, get into the Sportlines and forget about ride quality.

You can go up to the "Suspension" STICKY (At top of "GARAGE" postings) and look at an example of each any every example out there. I go there quite often just to look at the awesome cars posted.

I got the pro kit and didnt like the way the front end sat and end up cutting 1/2 coil on my front...But ive always liked my cars low soo it might work for you.. Mine rides good btw for being on stock struts and lowered for over 2 years now..

Just an update for you, I came across something really sweet that I could use too. E-Bay has some Roush suspension parts broken up to purchase. They have the front springs set, the rear springs set, and the shocks and struts as a set. The price is great too. All pieces are for the 94-04 SN95. Each set for around $120.00 plus or minus a couple of bucks.
I love my KYB rear shocks but for $119.00 it might be an upgrade w/Roush!
