It takes a lot of practice to get your 60' down but it will happen. Your already making improvements. Dont worry about who you are racing and about your reaction time either. A lot of people try to cut good lights but it has no effect on your ET. Its fine to just sit there and let the other car go and focus more on your launch. When I have had a loud car next to me I have let them go first at times. When your happy with where your 60' is with how the car is now then you can start adding suspension mods. The key to a good 60' is traction and weight transfer. Adjustable shocks / Struts will help with the weight transfer and upper / lower control arms and tires will help with planting the power to the pavement. So far my best 60' is a 1.66 but that was still on the crappy stock uppers and not good for drag racing lowering springs.

:D This was a 5,000 RPM Dump off the line with sicks.

Where have you been ? You've been missed I love that photo pulling the front cobra R's

Gave up on the car for awhile b/c of everything that went on with it last summer. Trying to get it all figured out now and hopefully will know a lot more by the end of this month. Hopefully will be back at the track this year. Sucks that my best Drag race photo is from 3 years ago

Figured I can still help others out that are at the point of where I was years ago. Other reasons why I had not been on here as well but posting on any Mustang forums at all is something I just started doing again.

Was your sway bar removed? My goal is to lift one of my heavy 18" faleens like your pic.

Congats on the new best time. The same 60' with a lower time would point more towards better shifting or shift points.

Yea my shifting sucks. I want to learn how to power shift, Just hold the gas and pop the clutch in as fast as a i can to change gears.
I really want to hit at least 8.999. Just because every one around me, including my mechanic says there is no way my heavy ass car can get into the 8s.
So any tips or advice you can give will be great appreciated lol

Also note, i did find a time slip where i ran a 9.37 and my 60 foot was 1.93. Think had i launched better i would have been closer to 8s

Power shifting is fun but its hard to retrain your brain not to lift off the gas when going to shift b/c its muscle memory to do it every time to begin with. Ive just kept the pedal to the floor and slammed second / third / fourth.

Not sure what you have for a transmission but the T5 does not like power shifting to much. Thats one sure way to kill them in a shorter amount of time. A Tremec 3550 / 500 / 600 or other high performance transmission and its fine.

haha ok, well as long as you know what to expect. Would not want you to go thinking you can power shift a T5 and not have adverse effects at some point. Its not like it will blow up from a few power shifting pass's but it does have a shelf life when subjected to that kind of track abuse after awhile. Do you have another clutch / tranny you could throw right in as soon as one of them decides to go? Id deff replace both at once as soon as one of them lets go.

Yea, i have one on hold for when mine goes. I just haven't decided on what kind of clutch i want. My plan when it breaks is to go with an aluminum drive shaft and a light flywheel. knock it all out at once. I know my stock stuff is really old, At this point i want to push the car as hard and as best as i can before i start modding. I know when beating on a car at this age shits going to break.

Right now i want to prove a point with a bone stock car then ill starting modding. ( i know im still in the learning stage of drag racing )
But i was told by a few people that my car only had 9.60s in it well, now people are saying with out modding my car it'll will never get into the 8s
Alot of people dont like these old 302s, but one thing that's proven is these old 302s take a hella of a beating.

Your more then capable of getting it in the 8's as it is with just a better 60'. I forgot what your using for tires but a 1.9 is not terrible. If the 60 was a tad lower and you power shifted it I bet you will see an 8 out of it.
