If your Under 25 which i assume you are since your dad will have to co-sign with you then yes your insurance will be outrageous. Now someone like me being almost 29 it wouldn't be that much at all. I priced with my Insurance Agent what it would be if i kept my 94 as liability and got a 03-04 cobra and also added on my girls 08 4 runner and i think they only wanted like 225 a month and that was full Coverage maxed out on the Cobra and 4 runner.

Am I missing something here? Can't he put the car in his Dad's name to save on insurance. Thats what I did when i bought my 97GT. Granted its not a 03/04 Cobra but the insurance would of killed me, being 18 when I bought it. I pay $600 a year with full comp/collision on it, plus another $300 because I am an "occasional" driver haha Good luck getting the car, I would rock it as my summer DD

Lying to the insurance company about the primary driver is a great way to get into trouble.

you can be under 25 and not need a co-signer...

Also if your dad doesn't care having the car under his name/insurance policy is a good way to save money. You can still be listed as the primary driver so you're not lying to the insurance but just having it under his policy will make things a lot cheaper.

I wrote one thing, and meant the other. Our policy is set up similar to that. The reason the insurance company put me as an occasional driver because I am away at school and dont have the car with me. It sits in the garage almost 8 months out of the year, and is only driven during the summer months

I love living in the sticks where everyone knows everyone. The insurance guys actually helped get me worked around to where my parents pay less.

funny thing is, i pay about $150 a month when my mustang has full coverage on it, now if i buy the 04 zo6 im wanting to next year, the insurance drops to $95 for the same coverage...... go figure

same coverage, 04 cobra..... $240 a month easy, i think it was actually more than this because i couldn't get the same amount of coverage

so hmm, better gas mileage, cheaper parts (if you know where to look) and cheaper insurance.... no brainer for me

I've talked myself out of it. I could totaly afford the payment and insurance. But i have a 90 mile round trip to school every tuesday and thursday. then a 30 mile round trip to work. Then next semester I will hopefully have a 180 mile round trip to my other school. Sooo not getting it. Sure I could get a beater but Im trusting a beater to drive through the bad part of St. Louis to get to my school, since thats where its located.
