if they are fine scratches an all in one wax will remove them.... like nu-polish or meguires gold class... or get some optimum poli-seal from justin @ obsessive detail....

or better yet... invest in an orbital buffer, pads, and polish etc like handz said...

waxes can hide scratches very easily as long as they're not to deep.... i used to detail showroom cars hands, its possible and is done all the time

if the scratches can be caught by your fingernail they cannot be removed.... nu finish sucks

it would help if you could get some pictures of the damage

nu finish is nothing to brag about, thats for sure. but i have yet to find anything that competes with it. I use it because its the best ive found... i use it and always have a sence of disappointment afterwards.

Amigo, you need a buffing compound. These compounds help remove swirl marks, minor surface damage, and un-seen dirt.

ALWAYS follow the buffing compound with a wax... ALWAYS. most people recomend using a polish in-between the compound and the wax, but this tends to be too much work for alot of people.

You need 2 terry cloths. put your compound on one, rub in circular motions onto the paint until it is a thin cover. Wipe with the other cloth in the opposite-circular-direction immediately.

for a wax (which i would think would take care of the scratches you've described)
apply the wax to the cloth, rub in a circular motion onto the paint until it is a thin cover. LET DRY to a haze. wipe off with the other cloth in the opposite direction.

(this process takes 4 cloths. 1 for each stage of the cleaning.) as you do this more and more, you will find what products you like best, what buffer machine you like best, what cloths you like best, and what works best on each problem for paint.

The problem you describe, i suggest Miguires Gold Class Car Wash followed by a waxing with Miguires Caranuba Wax. This should remove surface problems. If it doesnt, the buffing compound may need to be used...

Invest in a buffer like this... or just buy the buffer/pad package from Justin... Don't forget you get a discount from Obsessive Detail since you're an sn95forum member.. If you choose to buy another brand or from some place else, make sure its an orbital and not a rotary. Orbital buffers spin on 2 axises and can be used by anyone safely where as a rotary if used wrong will destroy your paint...
http://www.obsessivedetail.com/Buffer.html

Buy some polish / swirl remover, some glaze to follow it up with for a nice shine, and buy some wax or sealant... The products Justin @ Obsessive Detail sells are great quality... (Obsessive Detail brand & Optimum). Poor Boy's Makes really good stuff too (my favorite). It is very affordable can be bought from autogeek.

I would recommend you pick up a few different bottles of polish, some heavier and some lighter for different scratches and swirls... As well as Optimum Poli Seal. Its a great all in one wax for in between full details...

Buy some nice microfiber rags and applicators too...

Buy a claybar too... use it before you polish and after you wax... and buy a chamois to dry after washing...

Now in this order, do the following...
1. wash
2. dry
3. clay bay
4. fart around with different cut polishes and pads to remove imperfections until you're a happy camper
5. glaze
6. wax / sealant

The only cheaper way is to buy some wax and do it by hand... (Buy the Optimum Poli Seal)

DO NOT waste your money on a crapper buffer from Walmart etc...

Try looking for a portercable or similar orbital buffer used online... If you are unsure if its a good machine, just shoot me a PM or post in here and I'll help you out.

This stuff ain't cheap, but once you buy it, you should never need to buy much again. And the results will be tits...
