On a stock block with forged eagle cranks, rods, and mahle pistons, 347 stroker, and 10 to 1 compression....hardened push rods, afr heads with rocker girdles....I am looking at vortech with 6 - 8...The only thing that has me worried is the compression ratio....Any comments appreciated. Thanks

That depends on how good your tune is, what the intake temperature is, how cold your plugs are, what octane fuel you are running, and so on.

That being said, you could probably get away with 6 psi on a good tune. Maybe even a little higher.

Well I can't control air temperature living in NC, but octane is 93 here, and I already am using a colder plug. All I need is a good tuner within reasonable distance...

Take it to a tuner with a dyno and take it as high as he recommends. Some blocks split at 450whp, some take more...

When you have your chip burned (or if you have a standalone) then set it up with a nice safe AFR like maybe in the low 12s/high 11s and keep the boost limited. Oh yeah, and if you hear detonation, back out of it. :)

What if his compression was stock? Would he be able to run 8 or so psi with a good tune?

theres another thing to take into consideration to.. whether or not you want to run an intercooler too.. with intercooling you could push a few more psi on stock internals before running into problems with added wear and tear on them...

+1 for the intercooler. Cooler air charge allows you to run more boost and make more power. And yes it CAN be done in the SN95. You do the fox TB conversion, flip the upper intake so that the TB faces towards the driver's side, remove the wiper fluid tank and then clock the blower straight down. Run a 90 degree pipe down from the blower to an intercooler, a 90 degree pipe from the other side of the intercooler up into the driver's side fender and then 45 degree it right out of the hole in the fender where the reservoir used to be and 45 degree it again right into the TB. All of this can be done using ebay parts. Ebay intercoolers are actually pretty good and piping is piping. Obviously put a blow through MAF in there somewhere along with a BOV.

You've got a great tuner right here in town....Wayne is GREAT to work with. Trust me. It may look po-dunk and small but take it from me, he NAILED my tune SPOT ON and the A/F is FLAAAAT all the way across. We got very similar combos and mine drives damn near stock with a BIG cam and ZERO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. Remember, your well reccomended mail order tune gave you CEL and you had to send it back everytime you changed something. $500 initially for a Sniper Tune and for a retune it'd be roughly $160 if you go back. Don't quote me on those prices but I'm fairly certain they're accurate.

As for your combo....6lbs is about all I would push on that. MAYBE 9lbs with a pump/race mix...but again, stock block, you're pushing the envelope.

So you can run boost on a higher compression motor? I did not know that :uglystupid2:. I was going to run nitrous on my new motor but if boost can be run on a higher copression motor then I will wait for a blower.

How much is not much? I would only want about 8lbs. My motor will only be 9.5 to 1.

i dunno how it is on the v8's but you say you want to run 9.5:1 which is what the 99-04 v6's ran.. non intercooled you could run 7 max on stock internals.. intercooled you could run up to 11psi on the stock ones.. if you wanted to run more than 11 i would suggest going with a lower compression ratio.. something in the 8 :1 range.. when i stroke mine im going to 8.7:1 cuz i plan to throw alot of boost into it..

forged internals you could push it alot further.. v6's with forged internals can go up to 20 psi.. down side is they got a real good chance of blowing the head gaskets easily that high.... dunno what the 8's could do with the FI's

rycleff we need to get together sometime...I have heard good and bad things about wayne...I wouldn't mind him tuning it's just the fact that I already have a diablo chip, that cost me 300 for the initial burn, and for the second burn he did for free....so ya, but right now I am thinking about getting a program like a tweecer or something...what would you suggest as the best do it yourself tuner...?
