I meant to ask you. Does that dash flicker in person or just videos?

Cameras generally do a horrible job recording any kind of a digital screen. This happens due to the difference in refresh rate of the camera, the screen it’s recording, and the screen the video plays on.

We have to deal with this a ton in my industry.

What they said ^

The first time I noticed the screen flickering in a video was during the “maiden voyage” which was the first time I had it out in the sunshine. So, one can only assume this has something to do with sunlight and the aforementioned refresh rate.

Started on the power steering project today. Here is the step by step process:

Step 1: Jack the car up and secure it with a jack stand. Remove the tire. Decide against pulling the fender and bumper cover. Realize I need a hole saw and drive to Harbor Freight for some HIGH QUALITY TOOLS.

Step 2: After the great Harbor Freight computer system fiasco of 2020, I stopped by O’reilly’s for some steering rack bellows. Finally returned home and proceeded to cut a large hole in my car.

  • Step 3: Mock the PS pump up to figure the brackets out. This was made easy by using the jack and taking careful measurements without using any measuring devices.

Why does this remind me of whack-a-mole?

Step 4: Start by drilling a few holes in the hastily constructed stainless steel forward bracket. Realize the battery in my DeWalt drill was low and swap it for the Craftsman drill. Furiously drilled into the stainless plate without a drop of lubricant until the shrill shriek of a suffering drill bit could be heard a block away. It was all going well until this battery died too.

Well. Shit. I’ll finish this tomorrow-ish.

Did a round of brake bleeding with the “Snap-On Ultimate power bleeder” ....

....and I think it’s good enough. Now, I just need to finish the power steering system to see if they really work or not.

I didn’t get a picture of the canister in use so, use your imagination.

Last time someone told me to use my imagination she regretted it the next day. [emoji38]

The plan is to splice the remaining black wire to the red wire and run it to the battery in the trunk with a fuse holder inline. I have to pull one wire from the Holley and that’s it.

After that, I will fill the bastard with Euro spec PS fluid and see what happens.

Wait.. you gotta go where to get the PS fluid?? Have a nice trip! And when you're over there if anyone asks, just tell em you're from Canada... Less trouble that way!! ;)

The electric power steering pump installation is all but completed. We tested the system and once properly bled should work just fine.

If it doesn’t leak o_O

It leaks because of an incorrect fitting. This will be rectified in a few days.

That's just a place for a test bleed to make sure the air is out the system... He built it like that on purpose... ;)
