When we initially IRS swapped the car,
@lwarrior1016 pointed put a leak on my steering rack. Wiped it clean and decided to watch it. Well, on my now two test drives the steering was very choppy and that was indicating low line pressure. Also explained the brakes “not being right”. The leak is significant enough to require changing the rack. Fortunately, it’s being replaced under warranty @ O’Reilly Auto Parts and I’ll have it squared away this week.
Topped the reservoir off with the last of my Pentosin stash and set out for a quick rip. Steering was good and brake pedal restored.
Hmm.. Well, as expected, the 3.31’s are looong but it’s not terrible. The pull beyond 4k rpm’s feels pretty nice! Still not sure about them but I’ll know after a few hundred miles. She’ll turn 80+ at the top of second now. That’s crazy to me because of the frantic nature of the 4.10s and shifting third around 65 mph.
Taking off work Thursday to visit a muffler shop to get the exhaust squared away. I am determined to return the car to daily duty.
I’m going to refrain from giving my assessment of the IRS until I can truly drive it hard.
