Passenger side chain has bad slack in it. I made sure to put the slack on the tensioner side, but I am still have issues with slop. I even started over and retimed both chains. Still the same issue. The left side chain is golden, no issues. Only the right side is being a turd [emoji90]

Your tensioner isnt holding tight. Take the tensioner apart and make sure its all clean. The piston should have a lot of spring tension on it. Youre not turning the engine backwards at all, are you?

All tight now. I called Jordan at Excessive. He told me to pull the slop back on the tensioner side by putting a wrench on the cam. I did that got the guide side tight and put all the slack on the tensioner side. I then gently persuaded the tensioner ratchet out. Both chains are tight now [emoji1303]

Any way to make sure the chain isn't too tight?

I like to put my chains with about 1/16" of deflection. That way you know they arent coming off or slipping but there isnt constant pressure on the guides to wear them out faster.

Tomorrow it will be all wrapped up (besides the intake) and ready to be dropped in on Thursday after work [emoji1303]

Quick reminder, do not rotate engine backwards. Nothing has oil pressure and will allow chains to sag. The sag along with spring tention from the cams will pull the chains around the crank sprockets leaving you with an out of time engine. Be careful and think it through.

We here man and really want to see you to succeed.

No worries, I only rotated the crank clockwise. Got enough tension on the chains until oil pressure takes over [emoji1303] Only snag I had tonight was the reluctor wheel. In the trick flow adjustable crank gear set it came with a spacer. But my reluctor wheel is pre 2001 so it has the spacer already built on. I'm not sure if I re-use the reluctor I have or if I have to buy the new one

I turned the motor over with my ratchet probably 15 times lol and no PTV contact. Timing should be dead on. If I was off I would hit

Most definitely hit before finishing the first turn.

The reluctor wheel sits really close to the crank sprockets but not directly on them. And there is no spacer behind the crank sprockets.

So it goes like this. Crankshaft, sprocket, spacer, wheel.

Your sprockets dont appear to be spaced. If using the old style reluctor wheel, it has a spacer. The newer stamped reluctor is not spaced and requires that spacer or matching sprockets

Well happy to know I'm still in time! I'm not going to lie I did turn the motor backwards a little bit, but nothing crazy like a full revolution.

Ya I installed the old style wheel that came with the 97. It's all I got right now unless I have to get the new one, but I'll find that out when I speak with Jordan. How I installed was crank, crank sprocket (trick flow adjustable sprockets) wheel with the spacer and then timing cover.
