I finally tracked down this morning a '94-98 cobra front plate holder. Mine has a basic (straight) aftermarket plate holder on it which doesn't look that great. The cobra front plate holder contours to the curves of the nose and looks much better, like this:

Small cosmetic change:

Previous owner had installed an aftermarket CD player and left the stock one in place.

I got rid of the stock CD player and inserted a pocket sleeve. It looks way better and is functional. Minus 3lbs; it all adds up!

I cracked and put my S281 wing back on. The more I looked at it, the more it looked like it was missing something.

Weight Reduction: - 25lbs

I've been meaning to remove the Mach 460 rear speaker housing for a long time as the previous owner had it bypassed so it was just dead weight. I finally through myself in the trunk and got it done. Between the speaker housing and the stock CD player that I pulled out last week it was a total of minus 25lbs.

You said, it's a hard look to pull off and I agree. I love it when people see a select few cars pulling it off, thinking it will work the same for them. In my opinion, Tony and Orange do a great job going wingless and I believe it has more to do with their total package than just being wingless.

Totally agree with you; it's not for my setup! But I had to see it to get it out of mind.

I gutted the trunk today and took some more dead weight out. I'm leaving the panels, sound dampening and of course the battery box. I need to clean up the thick waxy undercoating and then going to spray it black. In the pic you can see the orangey colour from the waxy undercoating.

Removed:

Spare tire
Jack, Iron
Spare tire cover
Carpet & Insulation
Miscellaneous stereo wires/RCA's

I got the trunk finished up and the hardest part of the job was removing the waxy undercoating. I removed all the panels, taped up the battery box and scuffed it really good. I painted a base coat of flat black paint and then decided to spray the trunk with a truck bed coating. I used the same stuff that I used on my tank cover which I really liked. The stuff is very durable, provides a non-skid surface, doesn't smell and will add a bit of sound dampening. I'm happy with it and it looks way better than the above pic.

Installed the new Cobra smoked headlights. The fog lights have been ordered and are on the way. I also need to mount the OEM Cobra plate holder that I got. This will raise the plate and evenly space it so its not over hanging the lower grill area.

Love this build more and more every day. What would you guess your new weight to be?

Looks great. Smoked headlights and yellow FTW!

Thanks man!

Love this build more and more every day. What would you guess your new weight to be?

I'm not sure as I've added lots of weight between the Dart block, turbo, tranny and fuel system. My buddy who works for MTO (Ministry of Transportation) will be weighing my car on all 4 corners. I'm curious and hoping that I'm not over 3,650 lbs :nono: Lol

Weight Reduction: - 8.5 lbs

When I pulled out the stock CD player, I forgot about the amp underneath it. I took it all apart again and pulled the amp which wasn't being used and 2 supporting brackets = 3 lbs. I also had some annoying rattling coming from underneath the steering column. I took a peak and noted 2 plates that were loose and rattling against each other. They got pulled which solved my rattling = 3lbs. Lastly, I removed the black plastic blocks on the rear bumper which were filled with dirt. Surprisingly, they were 2.5 lbs with the weight of the dirt and only 1 lb cleaned out.

I guess when you put it all together; it adds up in the end! With the last 3 weight reductions, I have cut a total of 74.5 lbs for free! Next step is to weigh the car so I know where I stand.

Shifter Handle Swap:

Didn't like the position of the Tri-ax shifter handle, so I swapped it with a B&M shifter handle that I had. The B&M has no curve and has more of an upright positioning which I prefer.
