I can only seem to find the 3 bar intercooler kit by CX Racing.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intercooler...m2573520620:m:m9niGkleUIJ9diqUfe6tQfQ&vxp=mtr

All of their kits say "fits Vortech V2" but it should work fine with my V1 S Trim correct?

Haven't done anything with Mustang since last week. Should have the motor out tonight. Just have to unbolt 2 bell housing bolts for cherry picker and remove trans support then it comes out. Any advice regarding using a load leveler and cherry picker? Fist time...

It works with pretty much any Centrifugal or can be modified pretty easily too. I'm installing mine on a Paxton. You can't order the 4" core intercooler as a kit, you have to call them and say you want that kit for the ebay price but you want to upgrade to the 4" core as a custom thing. They should charge you $70-$80 to upgrade over the regular price.

Thanks buddy. What size of Treadstone would I need to look for out of curiosity? So would I be looking for a universal IC kit from CX or a Mustang-specific one.

The Mustang one. You can get it without an intercooler if you are getting a Treadstone. I'm cheaping out and going with the CX 4" since I hear it works well but if it sucks I'll yank it for a Treadstone. Um as far as what one, I'd get the 4.5" Treadstone. I think its $400 or so just for the intercooler. Which is why I'm trying the CX unit lol.

Yeah I will likely just go with the CX as well. So let's see here...I could actually just drop back down to the stock 6 rib 6psi pulley when I drop the used motor in and not even have to worry about blow-thru or FMI and just keep the meth. That's definitely the most cost-effective way to do this from what my research is telling me. I wonder if I can use the same 6 rib belt I currently have on the smaller pulley if I swap to the larger one...

Rounded the head off of the drivers side 13mm trans cross member bolt. Picked up the socket extractor set from HF last night and will try to get the damn thing out tonight along with the 2 18mm bolts holding it to the trans. Once that is out, will attempt to yard the motor.

My jack stands are on the front frame rails which gives me little space to place a jack up under the trans while I try to remove the cross member bolts. Any tips or tricks? Should I move the jack stands to the Kenny Brown sub frame connectors instead so I have more space to work with the jack under the trans while I remove the bolts?

Got the cross member out last night and one of the bell housing bolts off to install one side of the cherry picker chain. Just gotta get the other BH bolt off and off we go.

I know, I wish I had a trans jack...but money isn't calling for that ATM. a block of wood and my HF jack is going to have to suffice :).

On a lighter note, dude texted and said as soon as he gets paid (believe next week) he is going to send me the cash via Venmo).

I am getting super antsy and trying my hardest to stay patient. While the motor is out, I am going to de-grease the engine bay and spray it with gray speckle "trunk paint" to give it a nice clean look. Also looking into trying the roll-on Rustoleum paint method since it needs paint also.

Went home at lunch and started hoisting the motor and trans out. Damn AC Pump is getting caught so will have to pop it off after work. is it a 10mm or 8mm and will a 1/4" ratchet and socket fit around the pulley? So excited to almost have this thing out. Unfortunately, the cherry picker is butted up against the front end of the car and I believe it may have effed up the front bumper...

Unbolt the a/c compressor from the engine. Should be 3 or 4 10mm bolts that hold it to the side of the block. There is no need to take the pulley off the front.

Too late for that but hopefully I Can get the AC pump off with no issues. It really doesn't appear that a socket is going to clear the pulley.
Guess we will see.

Sean

Its not too late to prevent further damage! Anyway, Ive never taken the puller off the compressor to pull the engine.

Well, it kind of is too late. As mentioned, the cherry picker up jammed up against the front bumper and the rear wheels of the picker are off the ground lol. Hopefully I don't eff it up too much.... yikes!

Man, if youve got it bound up like that, you could have serious problems. You need to set it down and try again.

Do not try to pull an engine with any of the picker wheels not on the ground holy shit... That's how things go south fast...

Set it down and remove the bumper.

Gents, we have success. Thanks for everyone's help up to this point, I couldn't have done this without your guys! Now the fun stuff begins! Never ripped an engine apart, but it can't be that hard, can it? I will start to de-assemble the top end tonight if I have time. I am really hoping to find some aftermarket valve springs to go along with those Comp Stage 1 blower cams.

Started with the chains a bit too long

So I shortened them up which proved to be better

With some help spotting and advice, my 74 year old bad ass 1 gen Italian neighbor Tony and I got it out! The trans was getting stuck in the tunnel so I had to move the load leveler all the way to the front so the back end could drop a bit.

FINALLY!!

Wifey Sauce came in to give me a helping hand also!

Engines look much bigger out of the car!

Glamour shots...:tongue3:

I really wanted to actually do this...

Resting in it's temporary home

Good job man. Im glad to see you got it out without killing yourself lol. When you tear this thing down, make sure to take a bunch of pictures and ask a lot of questions. Youll probably be intimidated by this engine at first but once you do it, youll realize just how easy it is.
