stock blocks crack anywhere from 450-550 rwhp from what i've read in the past. More easily with nitrous...

- Holley Systemax II intake
- AFR 185 Cylinder Heads
- Ed Curtis cam

That will make more power than a TFS kit.

5.0 Kid..

Nitrous is no worse/better than boost etc. When comming to breaking a block.

X2. A rough guess about a stock blocks "breaking point" is about 500rwhp. The TrickFlow Top end kit is a very good kit (I would know),
however, the cam and heads are just a touch on the small side for a 331/347 stroker. If you are a little budget limited, a stock block
stroker with a set of used AFR 185cc heads, Custom grind cam, and Edelbrock performer/trickflow/holley systemax intake would be a pretty
decent combo.

yah, sorry i was typing that quickly. any extra pressure from power-adder sources should be considered.

the question is how much power you want? What you going to use it for, track or street? Name what your goals are and dont stray from them and you will be happy with your end product. I wouldnt put the TFS top end kit on anything bigger than a 306..

10.5:1 or so compression...don't be afraid of compression. I would do a solid cam instead of a roller.

Should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 400. Need a better intake then the TFS though. Systemax or Victor 5.0 etc.

Why on earth would you want solid flat tappet over hydraulic roller? Hydraulic roller is superior in pretty much every way.

Solid Flat Tappet < Hydraulic Flat Tappet < Hydraulic Roller < Solid Roller

10.5:1 is plenty. Depending on the climate and available gasoline (91 vs 93) it can lead to detonation.

I have had alot of luck with anderson cams, but can never go wrong with a custom

Is the setup i would go if i was just doing an NA car and nothing less than 10.5:1 compression

Paul,

I meant to say a solid roller instead of a hydraulic roller.

My bad.

I would not hesitate to do 10.5:1 even in Florida. You have 93 octane..no prob. Worst case scenario pull some timing.

There are plenty of new cars running 11:1.
