No chip, It's at 14* of timing, its backfiring through the exhaust. I've got a shorter set of pushrods that I think I"m gonna try putting in. One of my car guys said it sounded to him like piston hitting the valve

After timing it back to base timing (10*), it idles without backfires. Only backfire/popping occurs on initial start up and after blurping the throttle. I'd like to have it not backfire or anything before i take it out on a test run so I would like to figure this out soon!

Pure84GTT said:I would say the rockers need to be adjusted. I always go back after the first run to re check them and they always seem to have backed off slightly.
