July 2017. I found the air conditioning service ports were leaking. I replaced the ports and got the homie hook up on a system charge. I also fiddled with some stuff under the hood and ended up knocking one of the plug wires and the coil wire onto the exhaust. Left me stranded, but MSD had just come out with the black wires, so it was another chance to tidy it up under there.

November 2017. These are the last/best photos of the Mustang with this wheel and tire setup. Some of my favorite photos for sure. I went through and edited them again, using my current method.

January 2018. I had recently sold my Crown Victoria P71. The WedsSport wheels that I got from Jereme back at the beginning had been on the Vic for a while. I started thinking it was time for them to go back on the Mustang.

February 2018. It was time to make the Mustang more civilized. For that I insulated the interior a little more, starting with the floor. Just as I was about to pull the carpet, Turbo decided it was break time! Once the carpet was out, I added insulation under the back seats and in the front footwell areas.

February 2018. More insulation install. Once the foam insulation was stuck to the floor, I added a layer of jute underneath the rear seats.



I also added foam insulation in the rear footwell and on the vertical panel between the footwell and rear seat bottom.

February 2018, here it is with jute installed in the front and rear footwell areas. The factory carpet also has a layer of jute glued to the bottom. So in total, my floor has the OEM butyl insulation, aftermarket foam insulation, aftermarket jute, OEM jute, and OEM carpet.

February 2018. I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to stick jute to the trunk liner. I also found some OEM radiator ducting at the junkyard. I threw mine away when I did the ProCharger install, and I wanted the car to cool better at highway speed.

February 2018. I added jute insulation in the door panels. It is sandwiched between the door and interior door panel. I had always had problems with the bottom of my door panels rattling against the door, so I covered the bottom edge of the door panel with butyl insulation. You can see it on the bottom of the door panel. Basically off-brand Dynamat.

February 2018. I bought a new Corbeau Forza seat, which became the driver seat. I moved the current driver seat to the passenger side. Some Pony logo floor mats were also added, and as soon as they were unpackaged they became property of Turbo.

March 2018. I forgot to mention that in January 2017 we got our 2013 Mustang GT, which is in the background. We got it for $22k with 18k miles. Premium with black leather, automatic.

I finally decided I was done with the stance game. I bought the Mustang to have fun driving. With the wheel fitment and ride height, it was nice to look at in a parking lot, but not a pleasure to drive. I had the dampers turned way up so it was pretty rough. I had to be careful with the suspension flexing because the rear lip would touch the rear quarter panel. I had to worry about the stretched tires. I had to use wood ramps to get in and out of the driveway. I would constantly blow the intercooler piping off because it would scrape...etc.

So, I swapped the wheels for the WedsSports once again. Raised the car slightly and got it aligned. The second it was off the rack I took the car for a real drive. Also, the windshield banner came off. That was really the metaphorical turning of the page for me. This was the start of a new chapter...

I bet that thing is more quite and cool for sure. I did the very thin stick-on aluminzed layer on the outside of the floorpan and the two-sided rubber/foil floor pan insulation on the inside of it, along with the mass-back replacement carpet from LMR and there was a decent decrease in road noise but OMG did it make the inside of the car cooler. Stock, the center console used to be actually quite warm even in the cooler months. When the new layers were added it was like the car had no exhaust pipes beneath it at all.

The expense is a bit of added weight, especially in his case because damn that it a lot of heavy layers. But if it's a road-going car not for everyday competition, the extra weight is worth it.

Yes, big difference! I had Flowmaster mufflers at the time and they created quite a drone in the cabin. The insulation didn't remove the drone completely but did make it quieter. I think my favorite difference was the doors. They sound completely different when they close, a very satisfying sound!!

Yes, you are absolutely correct! My center console and shifter area used to get pretty toasty. After the insulation, it was greatly reduced.

As far as weight goes, I'd be surprised if the whole thing was 20lb. A small price to pay for the increase in comfort.

April 2018. Out and about enjoying the car. I stopped for some photos at an abandoned outlet mall on this overcast day.

April 2018, we took the car to the mountains for a hike. It's about 1.5 hours from our house. The miles started to rack up pretty quickly from this point!

April 2018. I already had the Eibach rear sway bar installed, but I upgraded the front bar as well. Huge difference. I would have to say the two modifications that made the biggest difference are the front sway bar and subframe connectors. If you're just getting started on the SN platform and you're looking for some worthwhile modifications that will last the lifetime of the car... start with those two!
