Just had concrete poured in the shop yesterday. Its right at 1800 sq ft. Pad is 6 inches think 4k psi concrete with 6ga wire. One day I'll purchase a 2 post for it.

I also do lots of wood working so it will be dual purpose.

Next upgrade is gonna be to the lighting. I figure 16 to 18 5k lumen shop lights should light it up pretty good. After that I'll work on the insulation and OSB on the walls.

Haha you're a couple years early on that. Itll be a while before I'm able to buy one.

My biggest issue is how to arrange it. My 12x12 door is dead center and most 2 posts take up about 12 feet. I dont want to drive my cars through the shop space to lift them up but I also don't think I want the lift dead center of the shop. Oh well lots if time to ponder.

Put em on an angle off one side or the other door as you pull in, so you can still drive thru, or drive, or push on the lift and not block the center aisle..

2 post go for about 2100
I could have bought the 2 post
But I hear a lot of horror stories about them
I ended up getting the 4 post
I am happy with it so far
But that shop has plenty of room for a lot
That will be nice

I like the drive on capability but when doing suspension/ wheel stuff makes it a little less practical.

My wife's family owns a transmission shop. So when they retire and sell I'll just buy one of their used lifts. Besides I convinced my wife to let me spend 5k on a car so squeezing more cash is tough lol

They make drive on lifts with accessories to allow you to lift the car off the lift and still do suspension and brake work.

My work area is approx. 40' wide by 30' deep with one door in middle, I put my lift at angle on right side of shop to be able to pull straight on and have the most room in front of vehicle---and I can still pull in another vehicle easily on other side of it.

How wide are the doors now and how wide is the building were the doors are
The building is 32x56. There is a 12x12 door where I'm standing to take the pictures. The door you can see is just a man door.

I live in central illinois. I plan to insulate and line the walls with osb. Probably heat with wood as opposed to electric or propane

When I got married I sold my house and moved into my wife's. With my equity we put an addition on our house and added a 24x32 in back for me. Insulated, OSB ceiling and pegboard walls, wired (only 110, but my welder and air compressor are 110 so not a big deal as long as I'm not using both at the same time), well lit, gas radiant heat. Just wish the ceiling was tall enough for a decent lift. Best I can do is a mid rise when I get the money...

16 or 18 x 12 lift up sectional door
If no over head room
Get the 18 x 9 lift
Lot cheaper
For a 18 x9 lift up section I paid 480
