For some reason, I thought I could install the headers from the bottom since I have a tubular K-member. Well, I couldn't be more wrong.

Yeah, the passenger side header hit the starter mount but almost makes it. Had it on the studs but couldn't get the rearmost portion to seat. Mother @&$#er but at least the driver's side went in like it was meant to be. Everything was going well until I realized I needed TINY HANDS to reach two of the studs. .

So, that leaves me with this scene:

Decided to move onto finishing the oil filter relocation kit but ran into ANOTHER snag. It seems that switching from the 96-98 oil cooler to the Mach 1 type [that deleted the cooler] it puts the fittings directly into the power steering pump. So, no filter relocation for now. I did try rotating the adapter but then the PS lines get in the way.

Your doing great, some of the exhaust studs need to be trimmed down and the nuts go on those first and this is the secret wrench needed.https://www.mcmaster.com/#6032a15/=1bu6kju
Then depending on the stud angle on a 4V heat up the flat side and bend it to your custom angle and speedy quick your done and 21.00 more broke. I have a collection of strange looking wrenches now and the Facom flat and thin style are the best for this and you can find them cheaper if you search.

That car is going to be fun! I'm curious why you did the studs for the headers as opposed to Stage 8 or something similar. I'm considering headers for my car is why I ask.

Thanks!

Nothing seals better than stock hardware and stock metal gaskets. The only problem is the metal corrodes and they become impossible to use. So, I replaced them with stainless.

Didn't work on the car much this weekend but I was able to finish a few things up.

1) Installed the other header

3) Simply installed an oil filter and will revisit the relocation setup at a later time

Haha, right? No burnouts at least until I get the coolant system sorted. Just have to figure out where to mount my coolant overflow tank (aftermarket) and it’s on.

I was just happy that I got out of the house today for the first time in 2 weeks as I have been having a bad spring with my stomach and been lucky just to get out of my restroom. Hurry up and wait.
