Hello again boys and girls. I just recently picked up another project. As the mustang is nearing completion into daily driver status, I’m going to dive in to something new. This time I’d like you all to follow along on our journey as we tackle this 1974 F100, single cab long bed.

It’s going to be a simple build, repair the rust, cut the frame and bed down to a “mid length” where the front and rear section are the same distance from the tire, crown Vic front end, s550 independent rear end, turbo c head 5.4l with a coyote intake, built 4r70w trans out of the mustang, and then finally top it off with a repaint in bright Atlantic blue. See......simple!

I’m going to be pulling apart my town car and using the electronics from that, trying to keep the cruise control and electronic air conditioning.

Now I’ll post some pictures. It’ll be slow going but should pick up momentum soon.

Definitely liking where this is going. 2 questions.

1) how are you planning to do the irs out of the s550?

2) what motor is in it now and what’s wrong with it??

The s550 irs has basically flat mounting pads where it bolts under the car, so it should be pretty easy to fab up a mount. I also saw it on YouTube so I’m basically a subject matter expert.

And, it’s got a 351w in it now. The engine is good (allegedly), but the trans a puking fluid from the front seal. I’m just pulling that so I can put a good engine in it. ;)

This will be a great build. I have been looking for a 70's F100 for a while now.

Honestly, I’m probably going to build that engine for a buddy to put in a 60’s mustang that he is looking at, or it’s going in a different buddies 73 Mach 1.

I eventually want to do something like what your doing, ive already got the rear end out of a mark 8, just needs springs instead of air bags. My dad has a 79 f250 but its 4×4, and would have to be totally changed. Nice build man!

And I bought the first part for it. Found a guy on Craigslist selling a crown Vic front end with a bunch of new parts, and super cheap.

Where the crown vic front end will bolt in at, most don't put spacers in between the frame rail/C-frame for the bolts to run through, and they end up squishing the C-frame. All they do is drill holes for the bolts to run through and tighten down, which is a big mistake, and believe it or not, Gas Monkey did this to a truck on the show, and I noticed it. I especially regret selling my '06 crown vic front end now because it was the aluminum a-arm design. I cant wait to see this build get going.

Nothing to show yet, but yesterday I started pulling the front clip off. If the wife lets me outside to play tomorrow, I am going to finish pulling the clip, then pull the engine/trans and hopefully pull the front suspension. If all goes well I’ll be cutting the front crossmember and prepping for the crown Vic front end on Monday. No pics now, but hopefully I’ll have some tomorrow.

In other news, we just had a hurricane come through and tear up our hangar. We have to get an environmental team in there to clean up the fire suppression residue. I might have a couple days off work lol. Here’s a picture of the room damage.
