I got as far as he did polishing the top of the valve covers. The nice flat top is easy and it isn't till you get into the curves/grooves on the side that it starts to really take some time. This was also while I was in the middle of polishing my cobra intake. 2 years into polishing the intake because it was my first large scale polishing project and I didn't really have the proper power tools so it was taking for ever basically by hand. It was about this time I realized that if I polished the valve covers that I would have to polish or in some way do something to the bottom of the intake or is just going to be a mirror reflecting the nasty bottom, or half done bottom or what ever it ended up being but I really didn't want to touch it.... It was then I decided to go with powder. good news is that nice flat top(after blasting) is perfect for powder/paint.
