They do not make the cams you want. You must have them custom made.

This is a mild cam made for road racing.

How much would it be to have a set of cams made?

Grab a set of comp 274 modular cams. More exhaust lift, the more better

are these them? Would I have to upgrade my valve springs?

It takes higher compression to make these cams work and sound good.
Read the customer comments.
How can so many people say they suck and so many give it 5 stars all with the same engine?
That vid I posted is a little cam (261/266) at 13:1, sounds great, runs great but came in at only 275 RWHP. But the high compression makes power from idle.
People say you need low compression for boosting and they are right for 14 PSI. Makes good power, needs a good build, that Comp Cams Extreme 274 needs lots of extra parts, CR increase of some kind, time and money to make you happy.
At higher compression you need less boost so the big car companies are using higher CR and smaller boost PSI to get big numbers now and that means smaller turbos, blowers and less cost.

You are looking for an instant answer and here is how you need to think about what is best for you:
You want all your parts to add up to 100 for you to be happy happy.
How many ways can you add up to 100... many.

1. You are working with 281 CID. boohoo
2. The max you can get is 330 RWHP NA without blowing BIG money. boohoo
3. If you want more than 330RWHP you need boost. boohoo
4. Boost cost money for stronger parts throughout the car. boohoo
5. Build a 5.4. There is no replacement for displacement. boohoo
6. We all must obey the laws of Phyiscis. boohoo

When you juggle the ways to get to 100 you see why the car makers do things like:
7.3 liters.
Twin turbos.
Turbo into supercharger into the engine.
GDI.
VCT.
Variable volume intake manifold.
Ridiculous valve trains.
All trying to get to 100.

Evil is right. It is easier to get to 100 with a Ford single cam.
1. Easy to go to 347 CID
2. CID X 1.2= max HP in NA
3. CID X 2.2= max HP in FI
4. Many nasty chop cams made.
5. Strong blocks
6. Cheaper parts to get to 100.

$2k would buy you most of what you need to do a 351w swap. Then you can see why true low end torque feels like. [emoji1787]

@Lwarrior should chime in. He has a really good grasp on the mods. I’m honestly the last person to listen to unless you wanna play with a big cubic inch pushrod motor.

Stock npi heads do not need upgraded valve springs.

Call comp cams about those 274 cams and ask them to special grind the exhaust opening to 10°BBDC @.050" lift. That should bring it to life.

I remember those days! Stay up all night pulling an engine/tranny. Get a bite to eat and nap, hit it hard the next day.
