I’ve had my fair share of these nights! Lastnight in particular we are doing my buddies valve seals and it’s our first time doing it. We need two more on the passenger side head and we’ve managed to drop two valves but we got them up with a magnet

Roll the piston to tdc on the cylinder you’re working on, you’ll never drop another valve.
Figured that! So far not to bad, we’re just going to retime the motor while we’re this deep so I’m looking forward to that

You already pulled the cams, you dont have a choice but to retime it lol.
This is perfect practice for you so yours will go smoothly.

Gotta fish a rope down into the chamber, then bring the piston up. Pull rope out when you done

Yeah we originally planned to doit like that, but we decided to run air in the chambers. It’s worked pretty good other than the last valve we dropped but thankfully we were able to fish it up

Patience and a thing magnet with a bunch of luck! Thankfully the two we dropped the pistons weren’t all the way down, otherwise we’d been spending the day pulling the head

Haha ! Yeah we’re just about done, but.... we lost a retainer last night and couldn’t find it so we had to special order them from the parts store so they should be in today

No no no, my buddy dropped it as he was picking it up it fell somewhere on the k member from what he said but we’ve had no luck fishing it with a magnet or nothing so we just got new ones

Well that should make you feel better knowing it didnt drop down into the engine. Really doesnt matter if it did drop into the engine. It wouldnt hurt anything.

If it was in the pan, it would either catch one of the windage things in the pan or it would come out with an oil change.
The block itself is worth $100. Even if it needs machine work. It has a high output oilpump!
