Unbolt that spoiler and drill some holes about 1"-1.5" back and remount. The front of the spoiler will cover the old holes but it looks much better with that style spoiler.
Wish I knew that before I drilled the holes lol. That trunk lid was drilled for a pedestal mount spoiler so I moved the holes over for this one. I'll see if the juice is worth the squeeze on this one for me. Too much shit going on to back track. My 69 has been very patient... :driver:

If I had to do it all again, I would only go one step back on the wing, instead of taking it all the way back to where it hits the quarter panels.

Last one I did, we brought it back to where the outside edge of the wing was flush with the trunk so we didnt have any problems with the quarters getting hit.

While I'm waiting on all the parts to rebuild the motor, I've been trying to get some things done. What do you guys think? I smoked the 3rd brake light and the tail lights. Good, bad or just eh? I went a little darker than I wanted to. It isn't completely dry yet in the pic.

I would perhaps look into different tail lights altogether :)
Well, I guess I know what your vote is lol...

lwarrior1016 is one solid dude! I don't have to use pitted cams now thanks to him. I got a nice clean used set in the mail from him yesterday. Now to get everything back together. I won't have much time in the next couple of weeks, but I'll see what I can get done by this weekend.

I vote new taillights and moving the spoiler back. I had mine back on my 00gt looks pretty neat.
She might get new tail lights at some point. I actually prefer stock ones that are very lightly smoked. We'll see. Once I get it running again and back on the street, I might look into spending some time on the trunk lid/spoiler. My 69 is starting to get pissed at me...

I just got back from a road trip for work on Thursday night. On Friday I was able to get the short block basically completed. I cleaned the block as best as I could with Gunk and a pressure washer, then honed the cylinders. I also polished the crank. I left the #5 and #1 old main bearings in, used a drill to spin the crank relatively slowly and polished it with Crokus cloth. Instalathe lol... They aren't exactly machine shop polished, but they're a hell of a lot better than factory and definitely better than they were.
Threw new bearings in and installed the pistons and crank. So far, so good. I just need to pick up an 8mm hex, long socket, so I can torque the jack screws. I decided to go ahead and put new valve seals in, so I'll hand lap the valves at the same time just for S&Gs and a little added insurance.

Spent the day working on the motor yesterday. I had to replace a stud on one of the exhaust manifolds. There was a previous repair and the stud broke again when we tried to remove the Y pipe. Whatever they welded it with didn't like my drill bits or my tap. Ate them right up. I was able to get that done though. I was able to get the egr tube and connector out, but the threads were bad. I decided to order a new one only because I don't want to spend the money for a tune right now. After all that, I ended up ordering a set of long tubes last night. $156 off ebay for a set. I think they're OBX. I have a set on my truck and for being so cheap, they're actually pretty nice. Anybody ever run them on a Mustang?
Rear main seal installed with the "oil slinger" which I guess isn't really a slinger. Oil pump and oil pan installed. I disassembled the heads so I can lap the valves and put new seals in. I'm glad I did. There was a bunch of sludge still hiding under the old seals. Thankfully the heads, valves, guides and springs look really good otherwise. I ordered some brass freeze plugs. Once I paint the block, I'll put those in.

Said screw the stock manifolds and bought some long tubes for $180. Took apart the front suspension yesterday so I can press out the old and install the new lower ball joints. I think I'll media blast and paint the A arms while they're off. We'll see. Also putting in some new sway bar end links, and some Tokico struts to go with the MMR camber caster plates. Slow going because I've been working a lot. It should come together pretty quick when I can spend a few hours on it. I might have to bang in to work one day... cough, cough lol
