Staying with the stock set up...be sure to purchase a new locking ring. This may not be what its called, im not 100% sure what the name is, but its a locking ring that holds the pump in place. When i did mine, the ring was rusted and needed replacing.

On a few Fords, those rings are awful tight and super flimsy. Not a good combination. A ton of tapping lightly in circles and changing position. Otherwise the ring wants to kink up. Hard to imagine there wasn't a better way.

I know they sell special pliers for them but that's the method I used on my old s-10, didn't want to come out without a fight!

I'll get one ordered or see if the parts store has one I can grab before I drop the tank. Ordered a fuel pump last night. Still waiting on a few parts to come in then I'll take it to get the AC evacuated before I tear things apart.

Ordered the correct fuel pump and it came in this week

Also got everything to a point where they could be painted. Ive got mad respect for those of you that polish intakes, I think it would take me 2 more years to get it to look acceptable polished. It's not perfect but met my expectations.

The oil fill plug wouldn't budge and I stripped out the Allen head fitting. I drilled a hole through the center of the bolt and drove another bolt into the back side until it broke free.

I tapped the front side and ran a bolt into the original bolt.... now I think I can fill this thing with oil.

Also ordered & installed a coolant crossover plug. Luckily it's the same thread as the 96-98 cobras, LMR had them in stock so I got one but I probably could have saved money finding a bolt with the same thread.

The biggest hurdle I am facing now is getting the car to a shop (without driving through salt and slush) willing to evacuate the AC for a decent price. Once the AC is evacuated, I will start to dive into the project without looking back

Finally got off work in time to drop the car off at the shop down the street. Should have the AC evacuated tomorrow

Finally had some free time. Took the air conditioning lines off and removed the compressor, started to mount the alternator but I was having some fitment issues with the sway bar. I'll probably plug away at it again and try to fit it in there with the wheel on the ground.

Also modified the fuel rail to fit, the front crossover was too short so I bought some hose and lengthened it a few inches to clear.

Running into some clearance issues with the alternator relocation. I got the alternator jammed in there but the sway bar bracket is completely unbolted.

If anyone has any ideas let me know, I'm not sure if I'll have to get a different size alternator or sway bar.

Edit: the belt fits and spins, might just remove the sway bar for now and figure something out to stiffen the front end enough for street driving.

looks like another case of "too much cool shit". I hate it when I get to that point and have to choose.

I did some google searching and every single thread asking about front sway bar removal had about 5 people saying it made no difference in driving, and 5 saying that you're going to kill a school bus full of kids driving on the road with no sway bar.

I drove my car without a sway bar for a long time. It makes a difference when you want to get in to the turns hard but other than that, it’s perfectly safe.

I hope it works out for you. I know I'll have to make a bracket for my setup, but I sure can't imagine losing both A/C and my sway bar over it.

That's good to know, I appreciate input from someone I that I know has the driving experience. You gave me a few reasons to have less fear if I have to remove the sway bar for a little while (I go slow on the street since job requires a spotless license, and I suck at autocross)

If I knew the sway bar and the AC would have to go I probably would've tried to make an upper mount bracket for the Alternator! For the price of the relocation bracket (with absolutely no return policy) I have to see if I can make it work.

I made one for my rc car so I don't see why you can't for a full size :) . Although it would be a pain as you need some really stiff pipe and to get it done perfectly will be difficult.
