Solid rollers are a bit much for most folks with their streetcars. Sure they work for uber-high rpm stuff, but OEM hydraulic roller will work like a champ, be cheaper, quieter, and less trouble on the street. IMO.

Couldn't agree more..

He wants to make 400 HP though. Gonna be a hell of a lot easier with a solid.

i would bet you could be around 320-330 rwhp with that combo depending on the compression and cam.

I would do a 75mm TB minimum & Long Tubes with a 2 1/2" mid pipe and catback.

You'll be real close to 400 prob.

My buddy Ryan built a N/A 347 for his fox and made 389 on a Mustang Dyno.

Here is his combo:

- Stock block with concrete
- 347ci 0 balance eagle kit
- Fully Pro Ported Edelbrock Performer RPM heads.
- Edelbrock Victor 5.0 intake
- Comp Cams solid roller
- 1 3/4" Long Tubes
- H-Pipe
- Flowmaster catback

You'll most likely make more with AFR and the heads will end up cheaper because you won't have to pay for port work.

If your concerned about the heads not making enough volume...go with the AFR 205cc

I would ask Ed Curtis though..he is a big AFR guy.

^yah, port work is very expensive. You can look on corral for some ported windsor sr. heads. With some port work, you can get those to flow more than afr 185s (thats what i'm going to use in my 347 build). They are an iron head, but cheaper also...and ask for flow sheets of heads if you buy used.

No need at all for 225's. Those are for bigger ci engines ie: 408 etc.

TALK TO ED. I'm serious...he'll set you up perfectly.

Long tubes will give you more power but they are more pricy then short tubes. Whats wrong w/ your rear end and no it wont fit
