Since you are not too deep into modding the GT then sell it if you want a Cobra.
I'd like to have another 95Cobra but i wouldn't sell my GT...i'd have 2 :)

I like your car but if I trade mine for anything it will have to be a four valve. Or a 5.0 Cobra.

lol i hear ya, but one piece of advise. Don't go with the 5.0 cobra. It only had like 240 or something, a pi swapped 4.6 makes like 275 to the flywheel so its not really an upgrade. Now the car is supper nice. But since i already got all the cobra stuff swapped over its not doing me any good. but i'm building the 4v motor.

If you would like you could pm and i'll talk to you about the motor swap.
You can get the motor and put it in for some change but if you want the real thing then go for the cobra.. just hate to see a beautiful purple stang go.... :'(

That car would be bad ass with a 4v in it and a cobra front and back bumper :)

really, i've never liked them much. I drove on before b/c i was looking into buying a cobra and it just felt like mine but just a tad more powerful. Never would have guessed 275...

Yea My plans are to go with a Cobra front bumper with either the Cobra hood or th Cobra R hood, But I would probably stick with my GT rear bumper. My next visual mod will be retinting the windows since mine are starting to peel in the back, I plan to go blacked out.

That is a good question. considering the milage on your car, and that there is not any Major mods, I'd say buy a cobra.
after all - a cobra is a cobra...

If you want to stay with the styling of the SN - definatley go with a 96-98
not a major jump in power at 305 HP stock, but a better drive train and IRS.

2V or 4V will take considerable investment to get into high HP if that's your goal.
if your happy in the 300 HP neighborhood, definately go 4V.

that's how I look at it.

The HP doesnt matter to me too much as long as I can get it into the 12's than I will be happy.

IRS??? ??? ???
NO, just giving you a hard time.. But yes, if I were to do it again, I'd be in the market shopping for a cobra.. and not ending up with the npi slug..

You may not want to work on your own car, don't have the tools, or place, and if that's the case then ignore this post...

You can get a GT PI car in the 12's. More on that later.

I have a stock compression aluminum block PI out of an 04' Explorer. I bought it as a new crate motor. My only weight savings is the block, aluminum drive shaft, and sometimes I take out the spare tire, jack, and 15lb nitrous bottle (almost full) that I don't use because I've been too lazy to get a nitrous tune. Most of the time I leave the junk in the trunk to keep weight over the back tires since my local 1/8 mile isn’t sticky on most Friday night events.

The mods that count are not really adding much power, but they are:

The PI motor of course (this is a stick shift car with FRPP HD KC clutch kit)
BBK shorty headers
MAC o/r ProChamber
MAC flowpath catback
FRPP 3:73 gears
BBK CAI
BBK 75MM TB
Pro-Flow 87mm maf for stock 19lb hr injectors (got it mainly for the chrome to match the CAI, but also to remove the center divide)
Taylor 10.5mm wires (probably doesn't add any power)
SCT Xcal2 with timing bumped for 93 pump, rear O2's off, and adjusted for the PI motor and mods.

I've run a 8.74 at almost 82mph with a 2.04 60ft in the 1/8 and I've run a 13.58 @ 103.36 with a 2.08 60ft in the 1/4 on stock 17's and stock factory Goodyear gatorbacks.

No suspension tricks. I even have non-drag-friendly BBK specific rate springs on the car. All runs in the 1/4 I made were on around a 1/2 tank of gas in June heat and humidity.

I know I can do better with more time behind the wheel and more cool downs between runs. You can ask anyone who has been at the track with me, that I hot lap my car when I go. I hardly ever park it. When we had Tennesspeed day at Beech Bend, later in the day, there were maybe 4 to 6 cars in front of me at a time, and sometimes less. I would go down the ¼ and come right back to the line and run again.

And if I do DR's or slicks, suspension, and a built axel, I'm 100% positive I'd be in the high 12's.So if you did the same exact mods I did, and add the tires, suspension, and built axel, I know you could hit high 12’s in a stick car. Heck, a tube K member, A arms, coilovers, light weight seats, and aluminum flywheel would help, too! It doesn’t always have to be power adding mods to go fast. Proper suspension and weight savings can go a long way. :D

I’m going to prove this by next summer.

A local board member had an 03 Saleen S281 n/a car and he got in the 12’s… here is a post from the board on his 12sec run…

Well considering it was drizzling the whole time and got rained out after 4 passes I'm very pleased.
60ft---1.688 :naughty:
1/8th---8.073 (so close to 7.9's look out chad  )
MPH----83.64
1/4-----12.814
MPH-----104.17
For only 270rwhp and completely stock Saleen suspension I'm happy.
I know the car has 7.9's and 12.7's in it the way it sits. I ran 3 back to back 12.8's. I need some control arms!!!

Probably about 3250 without me(230) Race weight should be close to 3450-3500 depending on fuel.

So there is a formula for 12’s, but a stock rear may crap out sooner or later. He later got the rear built. I can’t recall what his best ever pass was.

honestly it depends on what you want..if I were you I would get a supercharger or turbo rather than buy a cobra.

Get a blower, do some weight reduction and call it a day.

Power is important...but the amount of power it takes to make a 3k pound car run 13s compared to a 4k pound car is amazing

just look at the r/t chargers....350 hp...390 ft lb 4000 pound curb weight 1/4 mike 14.2+-or so
Mustang gt 99-04 260 hp 302 ft lb 3300 pound curb weight 1/4 mile about 14.2+-

so in conclusion youve got 90 hp and 90 ft lb to make up for 700 lbs.

I just bought an xcal tuner so hopefully this will help my car out a little and possibly tell me what wrong with it. Im also hoping to get suframe connectors and control arms this winter to help out with my launches. So I guess im keeping my car unless I find a great deal on a Cobra.

I love that my car weighs in at 3300 :)
