A normal person would’ve given up by now...
normal peoples suck. Quitters never win and some bs like that. I can't miss my chance as the resident "cheer you up dude" to spread the cheer and joy that I do so often. I hope you guys are not getting sick of all my positivity but if you are let me know...

@lwarrior1016 is a damn trooper. He showed up 30 minutes early and just started taking my car apart. :D So, I joined in but only until the need for coffee overwhelmed my cognitive function.

After a cup of joe and bullshitting with my wife we got down to business. We started in earnest around 0830 and had the engine strapped into his truck by around 1330. There weren’t any notable mishaps but a few discoveries:

  1. Missing one transmission mount bolt
  2. Had to cut the wiring to the crank sensor to remove it. (This was due to the QuickTime bellhousing and the rear cylinder head cooling mod making it impossible to disconnect the sensor connector.)
  3. The vent/crossover tube on my steering rack is pinched and needs to be replaced.
  4. The ECU side of the O2 sensor wiring needs to be repaired.
Shouldn’t be too difficult to sort that list out. I’m convinced. There is simply no better way to remove on an overhead cam engine from these cars. Unfortunately, we’re really good at this at this point.

The bottom end was super clean and I now feel even worse for fucking it up. The rotating assembly has been sent to a machinist for balancing and now it’s another damn waiting game.

The Bowler Transmission reverse lockout relay wiring harness looks as if it’ll work out great. Can’t wait to set it up when the car is back together. Setup is done via a Bluetooth app!

It’s time to get back to business. Starting this week, I will be installing the following parts and performing these tasks:

  • Flex fuel sensor
  • Swap to 47# injectors
  • Holley I/O expansion module
  • Adjust steering wheel hub
  • Replace forward section of the parking brake cable
  • Install new fuel hat retainer and o-ring
  • Install rear muffler hangers
It won’t be much longer before we’re ready to install the engine so I had better get busy.
