@lwarrior1016 is a damn trooper. He showed up 30 minutes early and just started taking my car apart.
So, I joined in but only until the need for coffee overwhelmed my cognitive function.
After a cup of joe and bullshitting with my wife we got down to business. We started in earnest around 0830 and had the engine strapped into his truck by around 1330. There weren’t any notable mishaps but a few discoveries:
- Missing one transmission mount bolt
- Had to cut the wiring to the crank sensor to remove it. (This was due to the QuickTime bellhousing and the rear cylinder head cooling mod making it impossible to disconnect the sensor connector.)
- The vent/crossover tube on my steering rack is pinched and needs to be replaced.
- The ECU side of the O2 sensor wiring needs to be repaired.
Shouldn’t be too difficult to sort that list out. I’m convinced. There is simply no better way to remove on an overhead cam engine from these cars. Unfortunately, we’re really good at this at this point.
